How We Work

We embed. We build. We leave something behind.

Every Hence engagement starts with the same step: understanding how the organisation actually works. Not just the data — the people, decisions, constraints, and histories that shape how things get done.

We work in environments where operations are genuinely difficult. The problems we solve require deep operational understanding before any solution is proposed — and that understanding is what separates a system that works from one that doesn't.

How we think about problems

We model the operation before we build anything

Every complex organisation is built on key ideas and concepts that exist informally — in people's heads, in spreadsheets, in disconnected systems. Our first job is to make them explicit.

Different parts of an organisation often think about the same concepts in distinct ways, even when they believe they're aligned. Multiply that across every concept and you get invisible misalignment that slows everything down.

We surface this through structured discovery — building an ontological model that maps the objects that matter, the relationships between them, and the actions taken on them. This model becomes the foundation for everything we build. And it belongs to you at the end.

Objects
The things that matter in your operational environment — people, assets, cases, risks, events, workflows. Made explicit and formally defined.
Relationships
How those objects connect — who owns what, what depends on what, which teams interact with which data. The hidden structure made visible.
Actions
What gets done — create, assign, assess, escalate, resolve. The workflows and decisions the system needs to support, modelled before a line of code is written.
What AI changes about this

Our accumulated experience across complex global organisations — compounded by AI — means what used to take months now takes days.

Working models in days
We analyse existing data, documents, and workflows and produce an initial operational model faster than traditional discovery allows.
Prototypes against real data
High-fidelity prototypes connected to your actual data — in your hands before the second week is over.
AI-native from the start
Intelligent search, automated classification, predictive workflows, and natural language interfaces built in — not bolted on afterward.
Production in weeks
Foundry's architecture and our deep familiarity with it eliminate most infrastructure overhead. This reflects what we are doing today.
What we build on

Palantir Foundry, from day one

We build on Palantir Foundry — giving clients enterprise-grade security, scalability, and data infrastructure without the overhead of procuring or managing it themselves.

We are one of the first companies to have deployed Foundry commercially, and one of the first startups selected for Palantir's Foundry for Builders programme.

“Hence's team has the ability to utilize Palantir Foundry to its full potential.”

Shyam Sankar — CTO, Palantir Technologies
If you use Foundry
We deploy directly in your environment
Deep Foundry-native engineering — ontology design, pipeline development, AIP integration, production deployment.
If you don't use Foundry
You don't need to know it
We host and deliver on our own infrastructure. You interact with purpose-built applications — no Foundry procurement required.
How we engage

A focused engagement with a clear objective — and a handoff that leaves you in control.

01
Weeks 1–2
Understand
  • Map the problem and operational environment
  • Surface misalignments across teams
  • Build the ontological model
  • Working prototypes against real data before week two ends
02
Weeks 3–4
Build
  • Build the production system on Palantir Foundry
  • Data pipelines, applications, security, access controls
  • AI capabilities layered onto real operational data
  • Users testing and giving feedback throughout
03
Weeks 5–6
Productionise
  • System goes into production
  • Your team trained to use and extend it
  • Ontological model documented and handed over
  • You own the system, the model, and the knowledge
What you own at the end

Every Hence engagement produces working systems, not slide decks. The goal is always the same: operational capability that belongs to the organisation.

01
An ontological model
A structured, queryable, extensible map of your operational environment — built during discovery, yours to build on.
02
Production data pipelines
Complete lineage and governance. Data that flows from source to decision, reliably and auditably.
03
Purpose-built applications
Designed for your users and their specific workflows — not generic software adapted to fit.
04
AI capabilities
Intelligence layered onto your operational data — specific to your business, not generic models applied from outside.
05
Enterprise-grade security
SSO integration, role-based access, encryption, audit logging. Production-grade from day one.
06
Operational independence
The systems, the ontology, and the knowledge to extend them are yours. We put you in a position to own your future.

The first step is a conversation

Tell us the operational problem that matters most. We'll be direct about whether Hence is the right fit — and if there's a match, we'll have prototypes in your hands within weeks.
